- The meaning.
- ?Trust? is to confide in one, to set one?s hope and confidence on one, resulting in being secure and fearing nothing.
- Trust implies:
- To ?lean on? is to rest on as someone?s arm, and thus to repose confidence in on to hold us up.
- The idea of trust applied.
- We are warned not to trust in that which is usually the object of our trust: our ?own understanding.?
- This is one?s intelligence or insight, the ability to reason.
- This is man?s belief in his ability to get through a problem with might or money or will-power.
- Rather we are to trust in ?Jehovah? - there is no searching of His understanding (Isa. 40:28).
- The name ?Jehovah? describes God as perfectly Self-sufficient and independent, having everything in Himself.
- This Jehovah was pleased of Himself to establish a most intimate relationship of love with His people.
- Him we are to trust ?with all thine heart.?
- The manner in which we are to trust Jehovah is: ?in all thy ways acknowledge Him.?
- ?All thy ways? refers to:
- Our life is a path we are taking through this life to a destination, which is not found in this life.
- Our ?ways? refers to every activity of our mind, will, and body I this life: work or play, every relationship, everything.
- In all our ways we are to ?acknowledge? Jehovah, i.e., perceive or discern Him.
- We are to see God as the One Who directs each of His people in every way: difficult and easy times.
- Acknowledge that Jehovah is directing our way and that we can trust His wisdom and love in it, no matter the way.
- It is to believe His Word, to rely on Him completely, to confess that He provides in Christ all we need.
- Then we will experience that He ?shall direct thy paths.?
- This means that our life on earth is also a path, leading to our Father?s house of many mansions.
- In the way of trusting and acknowledging Him, we see that God leads and directs.
- ?Direct? is literally to make straight, smooth, pleasing, and agreeable.
- This is Jehovah?s promise to us.
- Trust Jehovah to straighten our way, making everything lead to heavenly glory and victory in Jesus.
