- The anointed One.
- Christ (Greek) and Messiah (Hebrew) mean “the anointed one.”
- This is not a personal name, but a title.
- The office to which one was anointed is that of representing the invisible God in a visible world..
- The Anointed One was appointed and qualified to represent God perfectly.
- As our chief Prophet He reveals the Father and the way of salvation (Acts 3:21,22; Lk 4:18,21; Jn 1:18).
- As the great High Priest He was dedicated to doing God’s will (Heb. 5:4-6; 10:7,9; 4:15,16).
- As King He fought the battle of the Lord (Matt. 21:5).
- In heaven Christ received the Spirit, by which He fulfills His ministry of representing God.
- As Prophet Christ revealed to us, through the preaching, the will of God concerning our salvation.
- As our Priest Jesus intercedes for us, serving as our Advocate before the Father (Hebrews 7:25).
- As the King of kings He rules over all things for the sake of the Church.
- Those who are in Christ are partakers of His anointing and thus are Christians, anointed ones.
- To have the right to be called a Christian is a gift of grace.
- We are selected and called to serve in God’s house, qualified by His Spirit in our hearts.
- We call ourselves Christians. Does Christ also say that we are?
- This means that we must live the life of Christians.
- As prophets we are to confess His name.
- As priests we are to present ourselves as living sacrifices.
- As kings we are manfully to fight against sin and Satan in the life, and afterwards reign with Him in eternity.
