- His Person.
- The Holy Spirit is a Person (not just a power).
- He is true and eternal God, equal with the Father and the Son.
- Scripture does not isolate His Person or His work from the other two Persons (John 15:26; 16:7).
- His activity.
- He unites the members of the Church to Christ.
- He regenerates, giving the new life in Christ to those previously dead in sin (John 3:8; Rom. 8:10,11).
- He reveals by means of Scripture, enabling our minds to receive the testimony of the Word of God.
- He enables the regenerated to confess Jesus to be the Son of God and that they belong to Him.
- He sanctifies, conforming us more and more to the image of God’s Son (Titus 3:5; II Thess. 2:13; I Peter 1:2).
- And He is the pledge of our full inheritance in Christ (Eph. 1:14; II Cor. 5:5).
- The implications (even as we realize that the Spirit focuses our attention on Jesus and not on Himself).
- Can we see evidence of the Spirit at work in us.
- Let us be aware of His presence in us, as that which unites us to Jesus, our Husband (I Cor. 3:16).
- Let us be careful not to “grieve” or “quench” the Spirit (Eph. 4:30; I Thess. 5:19).
- We may ever be assured that the Spirit will never leave us.
