  1. The unique star.
    1. A star brought these strangers to Jerusalem.
      1. A brilliant star had suddenly appeared to them in the east right when the Messiah was born.
      2. It re-appeared when they left Jerusalem to go to Bethlehem (9).
    2. This special star radiated with the glory of the Son of God Who was come into our flesh.
      1. This special shining star shows that the whole creation revolves around Jesus, exploding with joy.
      2. These wisemen saw, and then traveled to Judea to see Him with their own eyes.
  2. Who are these wisemen?
    1. What we do not know about them.
    2. What Scripture does reveal of them is their faith and accompanying godliness.
      1. First, they held for truth God’s revelation about a Star/King coming out of Judah/Israel.
      2. Second, they were willing to travel a great distance, taking many months at personal risk.
    3. They take this long journey in order to worship, to show reverence to this great King.
    4. What is the significance of this visit from afar?
      1. One, they are Gentiles who come to worship.
      2. Two, what an example these wisemen are.
  3. They come to Jerusalem to seek the new King of the Jews.
    1. They inquired immediately of the people of the city for the whereabouts of the one born King of the Jews
    2. The only result is that Herod “was troubled (terrified) and all Jerusalem with him” (3).
    3. How do you respond to the testimony that the King of the Jews is born?
