- The unique star.
- A star brought these strangers to Jerusalem.
- A brilliant star had suddenly appeared to them in the east right when the Messiah was born.
- It re-appeared when they left Jerusalem to go to Bethlehem (9).
- This special star radiated with the glory of the Son of God Who was come into our flesh.
- This special shining star shows that the whole creation revolves around Jesus, exploding with joy.
- These wisemen saw, and then traveled to Judea to see Him with their own eyes.
- Who are these wisemen?
- What we do not know about them.
- What Scripture does reveal of them is their faith and accompanying godliness.
- First, they held for truth God’s revelation about a Star/King coming out of Judah/Israel.
- Second, they were willing to travel a great distance, taking many months at personal risk.
- They take this long journey in order to worship, to show reverence to this great King.
- What is the significance of this visit from afar?
- One, they are Gentiles who come to worship.
- Two, what an example these wisemen are.
- They come to Jerusalem to seek the new King of the Jews.
- They inquired immediately of the people of the city for the whereabouts of the one born King of the Jews
- The only result is that Herod “was troubled (terrified) and all Jerusalem with him” (3).
- How do you respond to the testimony that the King of the Jews is born?
