- The salvation.
- What is the meaning of “saved?”
- It speaks of God’s on-going work of applying salvation and our experiencing it.
- God uses child bearing and rearing to enrich her experience of salvation.
- Her role in the fall brought her a curse.
- A part of the curse given to her was that “in sorrow that shalt bring forth children” (Gen.3:16).
- In addition she lives with a husband who “shall rule over thee” (Gen. 3:16).
- God is pleased to give to her in this position the knowledge, assurance, and development of salvation.
- The knowledge of salvation keeps her from despair and fear at the remembrance of her guilt with Eve.
- The knowledge of God’s undeserved love strengthens her to bear much.
- The way the she experiences growth in salvation is to “continue in faith and charity and holiness with....”
- The meaning of the words.
- Faith and love of God show that the path of real deliverance is “childbearing.”
- The first promise of the gospel (given even before the curses) spoke of motherhood (Gen. 3:15 and 20).
- The way of submission and childbearing is the occasion for her to experience much of God’s sufficient grace.
- Nothing can replace the care and training of a faithful mother.
- As exercised by a wife and mother these deliver her from discontentment and show the joy of bowing to God’s way.
- Faith and love see that God assigns her a highly noble work.
- A woman’s faith brings happiness in the role.
- The trials she experiences are God-appointed opportunities to renew the awareness of God’s will for her.
- Implications.
- For young believing women.
- For young believing men.
- For husbands.
