Saved In Childbearing

  1. The salvation.
    1. What is the meaning of “saved?”
      1. It speaks of God’s on-going work of applying salvation and our experiencing it.
      2. God uses child bearing and rearing to enrich her experience of salvation.
      3. Her role in the fall brought her a curse.
        1. A part of the curse given to her was that “in sorrow that shalt bring forth children” (Gen.3:16).
        2. In addition she lives with a husband who “shall rule over thee” (Gen. 3:16).
    2. God is pleased to give to her in this position the knowledge, assurance, and development of salvation.
      1. The knowledge of salvation keeps her from despair and fear at the remembrance of her guilt with Eve.
      2. The knowledge of God’s undeserved love strengthens her to bear much.
  2. The way the she experiences growth in salvation is to “continue in faith and charity and holiness with....”
    1. The meaning of the words.
    2. Faith and love of God show that the path of real deliverance is “childbearing.”
      1. The first promise of the gospel (given even before the curses) spoke of motherhood (Gen. 3:15 and 20).
      2. The way of submission and childbearing is the occasion for her to experience much of God’s sufficient grace.
      3. Nothing can replace the care and training of a faithful mother.
    3. As exercised by a wife and mother these deliver her from discontentment and show the joy of bowing to God’s way.
      1. Faith and love see that God assigns her a highly noble work.
      2. A woman’s faith brings happiness in the role.
      3. The trials she experiences are God-appointed opportunities to renew the awareness of God’s will for her.
