  1. What Prayer Is.
    1. Prayer is conversation and communion of a regenerated soul with the covenant God.
    2. Prayer is the primary way to thank God.
    3. The attitude of prayer is the way we ought to live; it is to pray without ceasing.
  2. Why pray?
    1. Some objections to prayer.
      1. God has already decreed what will happen so prayer does not change anything.
      2. The appearance of no answer from God.
    2. Prayer is the means by which God gives His grace and Spirit (cf. Ezekiel 36:37).
    3. Prayer is necessary as a means of consecration (cf. I Tim. 4:5).
    4. Not praying is not only a weakness, but a sin.
  3. How pray? As determined by the One to Whom we pray.
    1. Remember that prayer is an holy art, which (must and) can be learned.
    2. Prayer must be sincere.
    3. Pray to God as He has revealed Himself and to pray as instructed in God?s Word.
    4. Pray with humility and contrition (Luke 18:9-14).
    5. Ground or base your prayers on the merit and worthiness of Jesus Christ, the only Mediator.
