Psalters: 273, 328, 184, 50
  1. The kingdom.
    1. The kingdom of God is the rule of God in Christ over those He makes willing in the day of His power.
      1. God is King, so He rules.
      2. This rule of God is through Christ (thus it is called the “kingdom of Christ”).
      3. It is also called the kingdom of heaven.
    2. The presence of the kingdom consists of all the spiritual powers, graces, and blessings in Christ.
  2. The kingdom comes through-out the history of this world.
    1. It was present in the Garden of Eden.
    2. After the fall the coming of the kingdom of God in the world is antithetical because there is also the kingdom of Satan.
    3. After the fall into sin God promised the Kingdom in the spiritual Seed of the woman.
    4. The kingdom will be perfectly and fully realized in heaven (Matt. 25:34).
  3. We pray for the kingdom to come.
    1. Personally we desire to be more and more ruled by God’s Word and Spirit, til we submit perfectly.
    2. We also pray for the preservation and increase of the instituted church of God.
    3. We pray antithetically, i.e., that every manifestation of the kingdom of Satan be destroyed.
    4. And we ask that the perfected realization of the kingdom come with the return of Christ.
