The Calling of Employers

- Their calling.
- “Do the same things unto them.”
- “Forbearing threatening.”
- Masters are to pay just wages – “Give ... that which is just and equal” (Col. 4:1).
- That which is “just” is a legal obligation which is due to a slave/employee.
- That which is “equal” refers to the mind and manner of acting, so rule with paternal affection.
- Incentive.
- See the Christian employee as “a brother, beloved, specially to” the Lord (Philemon 16).
- Be conscious that you have a Master in heaven.
- Forgetting this Master is the origin of all injustice.
- He is the same Master your Christian employees have.
- What sort of Master do master/employers have? One “in heaven.”
- Let the masters realize that just as their slaves are accountable to them, so they will have to answer to the Master.
