  1. The doctrine of the Trinity was developed with specifics in the early new dispensational church.
    1. They used three words not in the Bible for concepts about God which are revealed in Scripture.
    1. The true church always maintained the oneness of the Godhead; there are not multiple gods (Deut. 6:4).
    2. And the true church maintained the three persons in the Godhead.
      1. Consider the Nicene, Athanasian, Chalcedon Creeds.
      2. The three persons are distinct, but inseparable in the Divine Being; equal to each other in deity, dignity, power, and glory.
      3. They are distinguished by their names, which show their relationship to each other.
  2. The basis for our faith in the Trinity is the Biblical proof.
    1. There is more than one Person because of the use of ?us? Genesis 1:26,27; 3:22.
      1. The identity of the plural persons became increasingly clear in the New Dispensation.
      2. The clearest evidence is found in the baptism formula (Matt. 28:19) and in the apostolic benediction (II Cor. 13:14).
    2. Scripture teaches both the deity of the Son.
      1. In Phil. 2:10,11, Paul speaks of Jesus and quotes Isaiah 45:22,23 which speaks of every knee bowing to God.
      2. John?s narrative especially affirms the deity of Christ.
  3. The significance.
    1. Some deny the Triune God to their eternal condemnation.
    2. Scripture?s revelation concerning God becomes praise and prayer when it is a genuine knowledge.
      1. First, God is living, a living God.
      2. Second, His oneness means perfect unity in God, no conflict or strife, only perfect fellowship and unity.
    3. The life within the Godhead is experienced in redeemed humanity.
      1. We experience a living relationship with God (through Christ).
      2. This experience with God is consciously reflected in our fellowship and friendship with each other.
