- The doctrine of the Trinity was developed with specifics in the early new dispensational church.
- They used three words not in the Bible for concepts about God which are revealed in Scripture.
- The true church always maintained the oneness of the Godhead; there are not multiple gods (Deut. 6:4).
- And the true church maintained the three persons in the Godhead.
- Consider the Nicene, Athanasian, Chalcedon Creeds.
- The three persons are distinct, but inseparable in the Divine Being; equal to each other in deity, dignity, power, and glory.
- They are distinguished by their names, which show their relationship to each other.
- The basis for our faith in the Trinity is the Biblical proof.
- There is more than one Person because of the use of ?us? Genesis 1:26,27; 3:22.
- The identity of the plural persons became increasingly clear in the New Dispensation.
- The clearest evidence is found in the baptism formula (Matt. 28:19) and in the apostolic benediction (II Cor. 13:14).
- Scripture teaches both the deity of the Son.
- In Phil. 2:10,11, Paul speaks of Jesus and quotes Isaiah 45:22,23 which speaks of every knee bowing to God.
- John?s narrative especially affirms the deity of Christ.
- The significance.
- Some deny the Triune God to their eternal condemnation.
- Scripture?s revelation concerning God becomes praise and prayer when it is a genuine knowledge.
- First, God is living, a living God.
- Second, His oneness means perfect unity in God, no conflict or strife, only perfect fellowship and unity.
- The life within the Godhead is experienced in redeemed humanity.
- We experience a living relationship with God (through Christ).
- This experience with God is consciously reflected in our fellowship and friendship with each other.
