Psalm 24;
Lord's Day 10

Psalters: |

- God is the absolute Possessor and Proprietor of all ? all things are His (Ps. 24:1).
- This includes brute creation and also all intelligent, rational-moral creatures.
- Sin always denies this truth, making man to be lord of himself and his possession.
- As the Possessor/Lord of all, we can never give something to God that is not already His.
- And God is the absolute Ruler of the universe, governing all things (Acts 14:17).
- By His power all things move and function.
- Deists deny this aspect of providence, believing that God leaves the world to run itself.
- All this living creation is controlled, governed and ruled from moment to moment by God. He is Lord of all.
- God governs all things unto a certain end.
- Faith enables believers to know our Father?s hand is behind everything, though much is yet hidden from us.
- God?s ultimate end for all things is His own glory.
- Everything serves the end of the new Jerusalem in the new heavens and new earth (Rev. 21:3).
- The proper response of faith is joyful gratitude, and trusting patience (enduring).
- God is Lord also as the Law-giver.
- God alone has the prerogative to declare His will for them, to demand unconditional obedience.
- Believing that God is Lord of all, focus on simply obedience: love Him with your all.
- As Jesus focused on only loving His Father, striving to do His will willingly.
- Instead of being filled with worry and fear, we find inward calm and peace.
