- God wants His children to be in a disposition of heart and mind to pray “always.”
- Means that we live in the consciousness that God is always disposed to help us.
- Means that we lay hold of every opportunity to pray.
- Means that we pray in every state and condition.
- Means that we not stop praying until any request is granted; we should not faint (Luke 18:1).
- And means that as long as we live we keep praying.
- Why should we always pray?
- In spiritual warfare the security of the Christian lies in prayer.
- Prayer experientially brings God to the side of the Christian (Ps. 145:19; Isa. 20:19)..
- Prayer experientially weakens the flesh with its lusts.
- Prayer gives the believer sweeter pleasures than anything the earth can offer.
- Prayer undermines Satan’s work. A Pray that ye enter not into temptation @ (Matt. 26:41; Luke 22:40).
- Reasons for praying always.
- Because Satan is always assaulting us (as a roaring lion), seeking to bring us to sin and ruin.
- Because our old man quickly recovers strength to battle again.
- Because God is always ready to hear (Isaiah 59:1).
- Because Christ is always interceding for us.
- Because the Spirit is always ready to help our infirmities (Romans 8:26).
- In spiritual warfare the security of the Christian lies in prayer.
- Incentives to pray.
- There is a danger in not praying always.
- Consider the examples of the efficacy of prayer
- The prayer of the upright is His delight (Prov. 15:6).
