  1. God wants His children to be in a disposition of heart and mind to pray “always.”
    1. Means that we live in the consciousness that God is always disposed to help us.
    2. Means that we lay hold of every opportunity to pray.
    3. Means that we pray in every state and condition.
    4. Means that we not stop praying until any request is granted; we should not faint (Luke 18:1).
    5. And means that as long as we live we keep praying.
  2. Why should we always pray?
    1. In spiritual warfare the security of the Christian lies in prayer.
      1. Prayer experientially brings God to the side of the Christian (Ps. 145:19; Isa. 20:19)..
      2. Prayer experientially weakens the flesh with its lusts.
      3. Prayer gives the believer sweeter pleasures than anything the earth can offer.
      4. Prayer undermines Satan’s work. A Pray that ye enter not into temptation @ (Matt. 26:41; Luke 22:40).
    2. Reasons for praying always.
      1. Because Satan is always assaulting us (as a roaring lion), seeking to bring us to sin and ruin.
      2. Because our old man quickly recovers strength to battle again.
      3. Because God is always ready to hear (Isaiah 59:1).
      4. Because Christ is always interceding for us.
      5. Because the Spirit is always ready to help our infirmities (Romans 8:26).
  3. Incentives to pray.
    1. There is a danger in not praying always.
    2. Consider the examples of the efficacy of prayer
    3. The prayer of the upright is His delight (Prov. 15:6).
