Sacrament of the Lord's Supper |
- What did David desire?
- It is first stated that he desires “to dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life.”
- David’s desire is, secondly, expressed as the ability to “behold the beauty of Jehovah."
- Thirdly, David’s desire is “to enquire in His temple.”
- How does David express this desire? He “seek after” it by prayerfully begging of God.
- He is not just thinking about this, but seeks after it in order to find it and secure it.
- He declares that he wants it more than anything else.
- Note that it is “of Jehovah” that David desires this.
- David’s desire is realized (answered) when a believer beholds the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
- God declares that in every trial He is calling us: “Seek ye My face” (8).
- Jehovah’s face is the expression of His attitude.
- He assures us of His love for us, even when He is trying us as with fire.
- And the assurance of God’s beautiful attitude toward us is experienced in the way of our waiting on Jehovah (14).
- To “wait on” is to serve and the heart of genuine service is love.
- So we see the beauty of Jehovah when we are loving Him; and we blind ourselves when we are not loving Him.
- God declares that in every trial He is calling us: “Seek ye My face” (8).
