Sacrament of the Lord's Supper
  1. What did David desire?
    1. It is first stated that he desires “to dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life.”
    2. David’s desire is, secondly, expressed as the ability to “behold the beauty of Jehovah."
    3. Thirdly, David’s desire is “to enquire in His temple.”
  2. How does David express this desire?  He “seek after” it by prayerfully begging of God.
    1. He is not just thinking about this, but seeks after it in order to find it and secure it.
    2. He declares that he wants it more than anything else.
    3. Note that it is “of Jehovah” that David desires this.
  3. David’s desire is realized (answered) when a believer beholds the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
    1. God declares that in every trial He is calling us: “Seek ye My face” (8).
      1. Jehovah’s face is the expression of His attitude.
      2. He assures us of His love for us, even when He is trying us as with fire.
    2. And the assurance of God’s beautiful attitude toward us is experienced in the way of our waiting on Jehovah (14).
      1. To “wait on” is to serve and the heart of genuine service is love.
      2. So we see the beauty of Jehovah when we are loving Him; and we blind ourselves when we are not loving Him.
