- The natural alternative.
- It is a universal human problem that we seek to please men rather than God.
- History is full of examples of men governed by the fear of man.
- Abraham twice denied Sarah was his wife; as did Isaac; Aaron makes a golden calf.
- Young people will do many evils so not embarrassed before their peers. What will my friends think of me?
- The drive to please men is really a “snare” which snares us into very earthly, temporary and imperfect goals.
- “Trust in Jehovah lifts man’s soul above his troubles.
- “Trust” is to confide in someone, to lean on set our confidence on them to hold us up, resulting in being secure. Trust implies:
- Our trust must be in “Jehovah” (the “I Am”) is the object of my trust.
- He is the perfectly Self-sufficient and Self-existent, independent, having everything in Himself.
- This Jehovah was/is pleased to have a most intimate relationship of love with His chosen ones.
- The trust of faith in Jehovah delivers one from this fear of man.
- Trust in Jehovah results in our being “safe” (“set on high,” “inaccessible”) beyond the reach of man.
- One who embraces Jehovah stands high above the snares when entangle our feet when he fears men.
- Faith puts us in God’s strong tower where we are kept by the power of God unto salvation (I Peter 1:5).
- Wean yourself away from what people expect and do what God expects.
- With children, dethrone the fear of man and let the fear of the Lord reign instead.
- We must be careful that the fear of man is not replaced with a terror of God; rather we must be filled with awe of God.
